Music Rules Our Lives

Hey guys! Today I'm working on a new composition for flute, violin, and 2 percussionists. I'm also practicing for Texas Instruments Jazz Band concert at the Meyerson Symphony Center in Dallas. Also, on my agenda is learning Hot House on Alto sax and recording some Dixieland clarinet tracks on brother Sam and my second CD.

Did you ever consider how music rules our lives? We have music available everywhere ... TV, radio, mobile phone, tablet, computer, CD, IPOD, tape, and best of all, live music (church, concerts, fairs. malls, night clubs, street, etc.). Personally I have musical ideas constantly going on in my head. Trombone quartets, Dixieland, saxophone ensembles, big band, pop, rock, country, jazz, classical, electronic  ... all are valid musical expressions.

Remember if you are a song writer I can help you bring your song to life with my arranging and recording services.

See you later!

Initial BLOG

I play piano with the TI Jazz Band and we are preparing to play at the TI Day at the Meyerson concert. Attendance to the concert is by invitation only. We are playing a couple of my favorite tunes ... Blue Rondo a La Turk and There Will Never Be Another You.

This is my first blog so I'll tell you a little about myself. I recently retired from Texas Instruments where I worked 30 years as an electronics engineer. During my last 15 years I worked in the audio group in the systems/applications group specifying new products and supporting customers in the innumerable applications they dreamed up. I worked on power amps, ADCs, DACs, mixers, and all things audio mainly targeted to portable audio - mobile phones, tablets, GPS, sports cameras etc.

Now I'm spending my time going to music school at Collin College in Plano, TX.  I'm composing music, recording music, and performing music on a regular basis. Recently I sat in with a Dixieland Band club in Denton. We had a program on Louis Armstrong from Ken Burns Jazz series. Then we jammed for an hour. I played clarinet and there were two trumpets, two trombones, tuba, piano, banjo, and guitar.

I also play alto sax in a traditionalal jazz quartet (Piano, Bass, Drums, Sax). We mostly play from the Real Book (standard jazz repertoire). That's the most fun since we all get a chance to stretch out musically.

I play keyboards in the contemporary band at Lake Cities United Methodist church. It's a lot of fun playing and also it's full-filling serving the church as a musician.

Ok that's my FIRST blog. I'll add more as stuff happens!!
